Managing Holiday Food -- Canonsburg Hospital
Everyone gains weight over the holidays, right? Well, actually most people do, but it doesn’t have to be that way. In this workshop we'll look at just why the holiday season is such a minefield of food challenges, and what we can all do to assure that we enjoy the holidays (including the food) while protecting our health. If you would like to experience the holidays with no weight gain as a lasting souvenir of the season, this workshop is for you. During this session, we will:
- Clarify the psychological, cultural, and social factors that predispose most people to greater risk of self-abuse with food during the holidays.
- Identify environmental triggers for problem eating which are specific to this time of year.
- Examine common beliefs and assumptions about food and enjoyment which have previously led you to eating patterns that you later regret. We’ll look at new perspectives that will position you to take better care of yourself while enjoying the holidays.
- Discuss how to approach the season with a plan that helps you create the outcome you want rather than being swept along out of control.
- Share specific strategies you can use throughout the holidays when confronted with tempting situations.
